Irene is a librarian and works for the Library. She collects books from different alternate worlds to save and preserve in the Library. For her next assignment she gets an apprentice, Kai who comes with her to an alternative Victorian London with both fairies and vampires. The book she’s searching for seems to have been stolen and an eventful adventure starts for her and Kai.
This book was so much fun! I was entertained from the start to finish. Such a great concept of the worlds and the library. Genevieve Cogman has great imagination and this book is filled to the brim with awesome ideas and witty dialogue. I completely loved this book. It is funny, has great characters, lots of action, plot twists, magical elements, you name it! It’s not steampunk per say, maybe it’s “bookpunk”? Haha. I highly recommend others to read this book, especially if you (like me) like Gail Carrigers “teapunk” books.
I love this cover and it was one of the reasons I spontaneously bought this book at Science Fiction bokhandeln when I visited Stockholm in the beginning of April. The background looks like a green/blue leather and the text and design is all in a golden shiny colour. The cover really looks a lot better in real life than in the web photo above, when the golden colour really shines and reflects the light. I love all the details and the silhouettes. It’s a great book cover!
