The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

I will be completely honest. I borrowed this book from the library only because of the pretty cover.

Blurb from the back:
“He lived his life like clockwork. Until he met the watchmaker.”

The story was very clever but for some reason the book just didn’t “speak” to me. It just didn’t hold my attention for long and so I think it took me a month to finish it. I would still recommend it though. I enjoyed the mystery and the concept a lot even though it took me some time to read it all. Natsasha Pulley has a new book coming out (or it might be released all ready) that I might read too.

Vanity in Dust is released!

I hope it hasn’t gone unnoticed but Cheryl Low’s debut novel is now released. I just got my own copy today and I am so happy to have it in my collection of awesome fantasy books.

This book is different from other books in the fantasy genre. It’s sort of a high fantasy book but set in what seems to be a semi-modern setting.

I have loved this book from the very first time I read it years ago (I got to beta-read it a few times). Make sure to read it if you want to try something new!

Rekommenderas varmt!

When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

This was a cute, easy to read, romantic contemporary novel about two 18 year olds trying to find their way in life and love.

It was refreshing to read a book where the main cast is Indian American. I liked Rishi, such a gentleman! And I really liked Dimple. A non-perfect main character I got frustrated at sometimes.

I wished we would have gotten more interactions in class and more funny scenes in school though. Other than that it was a fun easy read.

The Sumage Solution by Gail Carriger

I got offered to read a ARC of Gail Carrigers new novel The Sumage Solution! Thank you Gail!

About the book:

NYT bestseller Gail Carriger, writing as G. L. Carriger, presents an offbeat gay romance in which a sexy werewolf with a white knight complex meets a bad boy mage with an attitude problem. Sparks (and other things) fly.

Max fails everything – magic, relationships, life. So he works for DURPS (the DMV for supernatural creatures) as a sumage, cleaning up other mages’ messes. The job sucks and he’s in no mood to cope with redneck biker werewolves. Unfortunately, there’s something oddly appealing about the huge, muscled Beta visiting his office for processing.

Bryan AKA Biff (yeah, he knows) is gay but he’s not out. There’s a good chance Max might be reason enough to leave the closet, if he can only get the man to go on a date. Everyone knows werewolves hate mages, but Bryan is determined to prove everyone wrong, even the mage in question.

This is something completely new from Gail Carriger. Set in a modern day San Francisco we meet a mage and werewolf (and his pack) and things get complicated and romantic. It is an easy, romantic (and sexy) read with supernatural elements. There is also a mystery in there too! All good things!

If you think it might be something for you it is available as ebook and paperback from Amazon (and more places in the US I presume).

Thank you again Gail Carriger for letting me read your book!

Läs-a-lot sommar 2017

Nelly startade en läsutmaning i början av juli. Mellan 4-12 juli räknar man ihop det antal sidor man har läst.

Jag har läst detta på 9 dagar:

  • Slutet av Bite Somebody Else av Sara Dobie Bauer. 50 sidor
  • Hela boken When Dimple met Rishi av Sandhya Menon. 384 sidor
  • Hela boken Fernal av Cheryl Low. 175 sidor
  • Hela boken Kretsen av Maggie Stiefwater 318 sidor
  • Påbörjat boken The Invasion of the Tearling av Erika Jonhanssen. 150 sidor.

Totalt 1077 sidor.
