Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte was a book I bought solely because it had a pretty cover. I had never heard about it before and I barely had time to read the blurb on the back of the book at the time. But the cover was so pretty!

I was glad too see on goodreads that my coworker had read the book, finished it one weekend and given it a good score. And so I talked to her the next day at work and she recommended it saying it was a easy and fun read and a stand alone novel. This sounded perfect to me and I was happy to start reading it.

In Four Dead Queens we meet Keralie, a thief/pickpocket who on accident discovers the memories someone murdering the four queens of the four realms/regions. Memory chips can record memories, and this is big news that no one is talking about. What is going on? At the same time we meet the queens and the upset state when one of them gets murdered.

I loved that this book comes with a map even though it is a stand alone novel. It even has portraits of the four queens!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Scholte has done a great job combining fantasy,sci-fi and murder mystery. The book pulls you in immediately and the pace keeps up all throughout the book. I enjoyed this book and can really recommend it!

Cover for Detox in Letters by Cheryl Low

Have you seen the cover for Detox in Letters?

This is the sequel to Vanity in Dust by Cheryl Low. You should not miss this series! I know I am biased because I totally love this series and I have read them over and over. But I totally recommend this series anyway. Give it a try! And don’t forget to leave a review!

I will write a more in-depth post about the process of making the cover. I’m just so happy it is out in the world!

About Detox in Letters

Welcome to the Realm, where magic is your drug, your poison, and your only hope.
An illness is spreading through the city, marking the sick in mysterious letters scrawled across their skin. What is first thought to be madness reveals itself to be an awakening as residents rediscover themselves, their pasts, and their long-forgotten magic… things the Queen wants to remain buried. Things she will sacrifice her own children to suppress.
Mercy has never been a staple of the Realm. Treachery, blood, and magic steeps the city as the rebel leader, Red, seeks to topple the Tower, Princess Fay eyes her mother’s throne, and Prince Vaun must decide whether to submit to his mother’s terrible demand.

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas

I had been looking forward to this book for a long time. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. It was not a bad book at all but it was so predictable and slow paced. Still, it was a good book and I am glad I read it.

Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I will be honest, I borrowed this book from the library only because of the pretty cover. It really looked so cool of the shelf!

I also borrowed a couple of other books with pretty covers. This was not the first book I started to read and so when my month was also up I was horrified to see that I couldn’t prolong my time for this book. Someone else was in queue for this book (only 1 copy in my entire city). So I put other things aside and speed read this one in 3 days.

I enjoyed this book and I really liked the fact that the book was about the adventure. There is a romantic subplot but it’s very small in this first book. I expect it to unfold in the following books but I was happy it didn’t have that much focus in this book. I do love romantic subplots and from what I can tell this will we a well written romantic plot. At least I hope so. The main plot of the book was good as well so I’m in queue for the second book now.

I would definitely recommend this book!

Just look at the pretty details inside!

Men någon försöker hindra hennes sökande.

Men Anna Arvidsson lyckas väldigt bra!

Vanity in Dust release date

Cheryl Low’s debut fantasy novel, VANITY IN DUST, will be available in ebook and paperback August 8, 2017. VANITY IN DUST is the first in the Crowns & Ash series,  set in a decadent dark fantasy world of hedonism, addiction, and political intrigue. The book will be published by World Weaver Press.  Cover reveal will be  May 10th! If you didn’t know it, I’m the graphic designer and photographer behind the boook. I’m so excited for it to be released!

About the Book

In the Realm there are whispers. Whispers that the city used to be a different place. That before the Queen ruled there was a sky beyond the clouds and a world beyond their streets.
Vaun Dray Fen never knew that world. Born a prince without a purpose in a Realm ruled by lavish indulgence, unrelenting greed, and vicious hierarchy, he never knew a time before the Queen’s dust drugged the city. Everything is poisoned to distract and dull the senses, even the tea and pastries. And yet, after more than a century, his own magic is beginning to wake. The beautiful veneer of the Realm is cracking. Those who would defy the Queen turn their eyes to Vaun, and the dust saturating the Realm.
From the carnivorous pixies in the shadows to the wolves in the streets, Vaun thought he knew all the dangers of his city. But when whispers of treason bring down the fury of the Queen, he’ll have to race to save the lives and souls of those he loves.
