Blood Chimera by Jenn Lyons

Blood Chimera is a refreshing new take on the paranormal world. The main character Jackson Pastor has newly turned vampire but continues living his life as normal, working with kidnap and ransom negotiations. Since Jackson is new to all paranormal things we get to uncover the world together with him. It starts off with what should be a easy case of kidnap, but turns into a much larger, complicated plot. There’s never a dull moment in this book and I really like how Jenn Lyons has been able to create a world that unfolds so well. I want to read the next book to know more about this world and the different paranormal creatures. The fact that you know as little as the main character is what sets this book apart. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it and I really like it. There is a lot of interesting characters in this book and a lot of action. This was a different book that I have a hard time to really describe without giving things away. It’s a mystery paranormal book and I recommend it if you want to try something new!

design-2

The design for this book is okay. I could have done without the wispy smoke, but other than that it’s a relatively good cover. I like the prominent text and the block of colour. I’ve seen the cover for the next book as well and they’ve used the same concept for that one as well. I’m always a sucker for images that fade into the outline of a person so that gives the cover a plus point. I also love that we cannot see his face in the photo. Something else I liked with this book was the physical cover. I’m not sure what kind of coating they have on the book but I loved the feel of the cover. It was smooth but not like the velvety kind.
